Facade Design for a Commercial-Administrative Building in North Sohrevardi, Tehran

Facade design by Fatemehsadat Mehdizadehdiva

Overall project by Avrin Design Group (led by Amin Sadeghiyeh)

Modeled in SketchUp

This commercial-administrative building is located in North Sohrevardi, Tehran, and includes six office floors above three commercial levels. My role in the project was focused on the facade design.

The main design idea was to use simple forms and clean geometry to create a modern and professional look. I aimed for a symmetrical structure, with a repeated window rhythm to give the facade a formal and organized feeling.

One of the key points in the design was to highlight the entrances—especially for the commercial areas—to make them more visible and welcoming. For this reason, in the lower part of the building, I used dark gray granite alongside white surfaces. This strong contrast gives the commercial base a more elegant and luxurious character.

In the upper office levels, the materials shift to a combination of white travertine and white firebrick. This palette creates a calmer and more unified appearance, which matches the atmosphere needed for office spaces. Since there are no neighboring buildings on either side, the front and side facades were designed to visually connect with each other, forming a single continuous surface instead of separate elevations.

The massing of the facade was also shaped to create natural shadows during the day, helping to reduce direct sunlight and add depth to the surface.

Window sizes and placements—especially in the office areas—were carefully considered to bring in as much natural light as possible while minimizing glare and overheating.

The goal of this facade design was to create a balanced mix of simplicity, functionality, and visual impact. By using a modern material palette and focusing on natural light, rhythm, and clarity in form, the building presents itself as both elegant and practical—fitting well into its urban context while still having a strong and unique identity.
